Cromartie High School (manga)ExcellentSome of the best jokes I've ever seen is in this series right here. I've seen stereotypes of how Japanese delinquents don't know a lot, but this really puts the jokes for it in their place. Angel Sanctuary (manga)ExcellentThis is not your typical shojo series. This one really turns up the violence factor, while on top of that, the taboo subject of brother and sister love. The quest for Setsuna to find his sister, I felt, was a little overstretched, but as the series progressed you found out more and more secrets that were hidden in the dark past of certain characters. You have to be real careful about this series, especially if you are a Christian, because angels are portrayed as the bad guys while demons are portrayed as good.

Baki (manga)GoodThis takes place after the events of the Saikyo Tournament. People are having this awful feeling that Baki is more than what he is at school, which is probably why nobody's trying to pick a fight with him. 5 very dangerous criminals have escaped their prisons to find out the meaning of "losing" a fight. Speck (US), Dorian (US), Sikovski (RUS), Doyle (ENG) and Yanagi (JPN) all travel to where Baki and company are to challenge who will come out on top. Fighting these people are Baki, Orochi Doppo, Retsu Kaio, Shibukawa Goki, and Kaoru Hanayama. The convicts, being the criminals they are, go to any length to try to beat these five, weapons no acceptance to "rules". For in a street fight, there are no rules. They beat them, which then we move to someody familiar, Mohammed Ali! Not only that, he has a son, Jr. Who's trying to hit on Baki's girlfriend, Kozue. And in the end, Yujiro finally accepts Baki's challenge to his own father. What becomes of that comes up in the next and final series.
Baki The Grappler (manga)Very goodWould you like to see a series where humans break the barriers of human capabilities but not supernaturally? Welcome to the world of Baki, where people train and work hard and run 100 meters in less than 10 seconds. Some people are huge, like 8 feet tall, while others might be 4'11", 110 lbs. and beat the living crap out of someone who ways four time their weight. And bodily limits are no exception. For example, one man has his elbow and his shoulder dislocated on the same arm, but with a mighty swing of it, they snap back into place and he acts as if nothing happened. This is the world of Baki. Prepare for Hanma Yujiro, the Ogre, the strongest living thing in the world, and Baki's. At this point, all Baki wants is revenge against Yujiro for killing his mother. But the fights aren't just between these two. When you read this series you'll meet and feel for all sorts of characters that come up. With that, this series doesn't fail to please.
Barefoot Gen (manga)Very good
Baron Gong Battle (manga)Very goodThis series seemed to be one of similar sense to Battle Royale, seeing as it is written by one of the two who helped to create the Battle Royale, it came out to senseless violence but at the same time you got to see plenty of T&A; in it. While at the same time, Baron is trying to avenge his one love's gruesome death at the hands of a Nazi bio-engineered war machine. The series in the end closes with a hanger, which may be considered appropriate to others, but possibly not what many would want out of the series. If you are looking for content that just brings out T&A; and violence, then this would probably be one to go for then.
Basilisk (manga)Masterpiece
Battle Royale (manga)GoodWhen I first saw this, my reaction was that it looked pretty sick. That's before I discovered that Ichi the Killer was even worse. When you actually look at the violence and the blood/guts that come up in this series, it's pretty graphic and gross, but not so much psychologically once you're exposed to it enough. A major drawback I felt for this series was the amount of time it would take for them to kill off characters. Heck, you could have a whole volume of Nanahara and company trying to kill off Kiriyama if they ran it long enough. Anyways, it ran pretty straight forward to the novel, or so I hear, more than the movie did. It would be interesting to see how the original text goes, if I should ever get the chance. I do not recommend this to fairly young people, unless you're ready to see brains and intestines flying all over the place.
Battle Royale II: Blitz Royale (manga)So-soThis one really lets you down from it's predecessor. All it is really is a new program that has been started to catch terrorists, and they use junior high school students for the soldiers. Themes that are presented are hate, betrayal, trust, cunningness, and revenge. And it gets interesting when out of the forty students that started this program, in three days there are only two left. And another class comes in.

Blue Heaven (manga)MasterpieceOne of the best suspense thrillers I have read. Imagine taking the scene of a cruise liner and turning it into an apocalypse. The concept to this series could not be better, because you definetly do not who is going to live or who is going to die until the moment of truth shows itself at the very end. Truly an epitomy of suspense manga. A must read.

Chobits (manga)Very goodInteresting how not only can you fall in love with something that's not real, but that something can fall even in love with you. Interesting storyline, though I couldn't get what was supposed to be funny, although I could see that this main character was probably a virgin and obviously didn't have a lot of female friends. In the end, love was the key to happiness, which everybody found, so amen.
Clamp School Detectives (manga)Decent
Clover (manga by CLAMP)
Count Cain (manga)Decent
Coup d'État Club (manga)Very good
Death Note (manga)MasterpieceTruly a story for detective work, critical thinking and suspense. Who is on whose side? And is Kira really a savior? When Light comes into possesion of the Death Note, he thinks he is. But when he takes it too far L takes it upon himself to catch Light, aka 'Kira'. Turns and twists along the way, or making sure that final piece of the puzzle is in place. In the end, even though L dies, he was still smarter than Light, which is proven in the end when Near, definetly the successor of L, beats Light at his own game. A must read, Ryuk is waiting for you!
Diabolo (manga)Not really goodI'm glad it was as long as it was. It actually had a good opening chapter, but I felt it wen't downhill after that. There just wasn't enough to that storyline, once the guy turned into the devil that he was, it was a goner. In the end though, the result was justified, and there were even two people reflecting upon their sins.

FLCL (manga)So-soThe artwork made this series hard to follow, because it didn't live up to what I could expect from the anime itself. In a way they tried to follow what was made from the anime, but there were other elements that were manga in originality, however they did not seem to appeal as well as the anime version did for what it had in it. An over the top, wacky read, but like I said earlier, a bit difficult to follow.

Harem Revolution (manga)So-soMay I ask, how can you be married to five different women at a time in this day in age? Only through one of Katsu Aki's works can you be! The main character trying to get into college at the beginning of the series. He lives at home with his dad and his four wives, and there's always noise coming from his dad's bedroom at night. Then he finds out that his childhood friend that he developed feelings for but didn't have the balls to say it to her is marrying his dad to become his fifth wife. Another thing he discovers that like him, she is a virgin. What's even weirder is that his dad won't have sex with her for whatever reasons he might have in his already crazy head. So the later part of the series dives into this guy's feelings for his "mother" and how he acts on them. Though along the way he gets to have sex with his dad's four other wives before making the final move on his one true love. They get together, dad finds out and gets mad, divorces her, but gives them his blessing. So, a happy ending there, but dad doesn't change his ways. I hope he dies of a heart attack!
Hellsing (manga)Volumes: 1-9
Ichi the Killer (manga)ExcellentThis series outdoes even Elfen Lied, in violence, gore and psychology. There are some very sick characters in here, and very sick acts (be they sexual or violent), and even had me cringing at a couple points. Even though Ichi is the main character and Kakihara is the main badguy, you see that in the end it's Jijii who runs this whole game, and turns out the winner. He plays the cards real well to convince Ichi that he witnessed a rape back in school when he really didn't, and gets Kakihara kicked out of his yakuza alliance, which turns Kabukicho into a warzone. Even with all the really sick stuff, this manga still kicks ass, I recommend if you want a really violent manga to read, read this one. It will gross you out. If you want to know what kind of sick stuff is in there, feel free to PM me and ask.

D.N.Angel (manga)WeakI bought seven volumes for seven dollars to just check it out for the heck of it, and had only heard of the series through ANN. Acting on seeing how people make mention of certain series and how they like it is why I checked this one out. I wish now I hadn't, because that's seven less dollars that I have now because of this series. I tried to read all of them, but found I could only read the first two before giving up.

Fate/stay night (manga)Volumes: 1-2
Galaxy Angel (manga)BadI took one look at the first volume and discovered I'd seen part of the anime for this series, but what killed it for was the stupidness of the captain and the main girl of the angels. I'm glad I only bought the first volume, which was three dollars.

Welcome to the N.H.K. (manga)Not really goodThere were certainly elements in this series I never expected, and gives examples of extreme otaku and a new type of society in Japan, called hikikomoris. I find the main character of this series to be very disturbed, blaming people for stuff that happens to him and on top of that, cannot seem to look out for himself and at age 23, is getting his income all from his parents. Also, the methods that the girl trying to help is presenting don't make a lot sense either. Really not all that great.
