Submitted by: Tharbad – Wed, 06/24/2009 – 10:49

user calls reporting that her mouse isn't working this morning. She says she tries to move it and its all jerky.

I go out with a new mouse in hand and see the problem first hand .. its not that the mouse is jerky, its basically glued to the center of the screen. Try moving it and it instantly snaps back to the same area.

This user is a regional sales manager for our branch on another continent; all of IT is located in the USA, so we routinely handle some pretty odd problems by phone and VNC. The user in question is also extremely hard on our gear; when he came to visit the head office late last month, he brought not one but *three* laptops he had broken in the first quarter.

A while back a former supervisor of mine was working with a collegue over the weekend. As they were returning from another department at our facility, our supervisor decided to split off and use the restroom. As he was talking to my colleague and entering the restroom, he didn't notice the 'Restroom Closed' sign taped on the door.

Maybe I'm turning into a floundering user in my old age but I took the CW advice to turn off Flashplayer until the security hole was fixed and can't remember how to turn it back on now that I've upgraded it. Thanks.

One of my co-workers shared some administrative credentials to an SQL server with one of our attorneys because "they really needed access" to the data.

We have a front-end app installed on everyone's machine so they can have controlled access to this data.

This particular attorney has his CS BS, so of course we can trust him, right?

Just today, I was given the task of converting a PDF to a Multi-page TIFF. Not a problem. I get it done, point the requester to the file, and go about my day.

Couple of hours later, my manager calls me into his office and tells me how upset the person was about my conversion. Apparently, I did a terrible job. I showed the TIFF to him, and asked him what was so bad.
