Kiseki no Umi, the OP for Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight.

The anticipation it evokes from the intriguing tribalesque intro to the ineffably gorgeous chords in the verse, the throbbing timpani going into the pre-chorus, then cresting into the absolutely perfectly crafted strings and choral chants...

The hair on my arms stood just journeying through the song in my head. I cannot praise it enough. I cannot listen to it enough. Yoko Kanno is my goddess.

It has been on my playlist for about eight years now. I foresee it will continue to be there forever.

I have countless other loves on my playlist (Noir, Witch Hunter Robin, Fruits Basket, Maison Ikkoku), but Kiseki no Umi will always be my first.

A song that I absolutely never get tired of is "Michiyuki," the ending theme for Loveless. The entire atmosphere of that song is just heartbreaking. The lyrics are so beautiful but so sad, which echoes the show perfectly. I tear up every time I hear it. Another song I love is "Koppelia no Hitsugi" by Ali Project. It's from Noir The lyrics are depressing, but the music is great, especially the violin.

well, there's this thing about not having just one song of an anime, i have to have the whole soundtrack, even if i hate most of the songs, bud i have the idea that even 2 good songs can save the whole album, i don't know how right is this for any other person, but by example, i just can't get tired (yet) of listening Cowboy Bebop 2 : No Disc and OST Future blues (Pushing the sky, Yo pumpkin head, and others) and this makes me keep going, till i hear the whole album Very Happy
I believe there is no fun just hearing one song of certain anime, the music says a looot about anime, the whole soundtrack , not just one song.

Oh! and I absolutely love Player, from Ghost in the Shell S.A.C soundtrack.

Very Happy

intro to rozen maiden traumend by far is my favorite intro. i enjoy it every time i hear it. the beat isnt repedative, the lyrics are deep, and for being dark, it seems uppity as well. Edit: I really love the intro to witch hunter robin as well Smile

I was enjoying the OP of welcome to the NHK until about half way through when they went and changed it, its the same song but it sucks now and I can't watch the OP anymore its only a small thing but it annoys me (I liked the trumpet{?} parts).

Colors of the Heart by the band UVERworld it's the third OP song of the poluar anime Blood+.I never get bored of this song because of the beats and the way it sounds in general. The introduction of this song is cool and unique then the song continues on to this rock feel that it has. Colors of the Heart is actually one of my favorite songs.

Another song I never get tired of is Shounen Heart by Home Made Kazoku [2nd OP of Eureka 7] and What's up People!? by Maximum the Hormone [2nd OP for Death note] are great as well. The reason as to why I don't get tired of these songs is because they make me feel good. HA!

O2 by Orange Range [Code Geass R2] is another song that I love.

"St james infirmary" from Metropolis OST sung by a Japanese guy. There is a lot of versions of this song since it's an old American folksong - but I think this one is far the best. The way he draaags the words and pronounce them and the wailing trumpets/clarinets - love it!

And "the sixth station" by Joe Hisaishi. A very moody and beautiful song.

"Kaneda"/"exudos from the underground fortress"/"Requiem" from the Akira soundtrack. A genius work! The xylophones, the energy and everything that just play so well together. If you don't know it, check it out!
Edit: Check it out:
Exudos from the underground fortress
Kaneda

And for the pop, hmm. I tend to grow tired of the most J-popsongs - after hearing them 50 times (haha). No Jpop (or actually just popsong in general)-song have survived so many plays I guess.

Maybe "blue bird" by Ikimono Gakari is the closest (latest(?) Naruto Shippuuden opening).

I have two:

The first is Rise, the opening theme for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG. This song is both energetic and beautiful; the techno rhythms and the strong beat in the background work terrifically with Origa's haunting vocals. The lyrics are emotive and chilling in places, and when the chorus comes around one can't help but sing along with it. I've listened to this song easily over a thousand times, and I'm still as awed by it as I was the first time I heard it.

Another song I've had for aeons and am still not bored with is Ryuuro from Shaman King. I have sort of an emotional attachment to this song, since it's how I first encountered Paku Romi (who I now believe is God), but I also love the pace of this song and the interesting mix of techno, rock, and accoustic guitar. The vocal is sharp and powerful and almost like verbal gymnastics, and the lyrics are really poetic and a good representation of the character they represent. Of my vast collection of anime music I think this is the song I've had the longest, and I still think it's amazing.

Wow, I gotta agree with you there with "Rise". It's such an amazing song. When I was watching SAC 2 I would rewind to watch the intro several times which also has the best animated intro I've seen in an anime.

Another track is "Taiyou wa yoru mo kagayaku" by Wino(anyone have any info on this band?) for Hunter x Hunter one of the OVAs. Another great track is "Guts" and "Behelit by Susumu Hirasawa for the Berserk OST.

A new one I've gotten into:

Broken Youth - NICO Touches The Walls (Naruto: Shippuuden 6th Ending) - Besides the ending animation being interesting, the song is just cool. It's gotten stuck in my head, and now I'm tempted to put the song on repeat for an hour or two. The PV though is a little strange...I don't get the ending. o.O

Rewrite by Asian Kung Fu Generation from FullMetal Alchemist because I am able to listen to it over and over, though i'm not really sure why.

"Bokura no Bouken" by Kids Alive from Hikaru No Go because I love the way they transition from the end of an episode to the song. It's just an awsome song.

As somebody who considers himself ANN's biggest Metropolis fan I'm ashamed that I didn't know that. Not having any knowledge of jazz, I was under the assumption it was a recording from the first half of the 20th century by some American vocalist.

I'll second your opinion of Kaneda as well. spoiler[To hear it playing after the immortal "Boku wa...Tetsuo" line] just sends shivers all along my arms as I slowly utter 'wow' to myself.

Hmm, i havn't noticed this topic before, but it is certianly something i'd like to make a post on. Well i listen to little anime music but the music i listen to... well i've been listening to it since i first saw the anime. Meaning of coures that i've only listend to that, and still doo listen to that... whether or not it is a good thing, i'll leave that up to ones imagination, well on with it.

I'm not even going to mention the Dragon Ball Z ones, just because i listen to songs throughout the anime (instrumentals) all the time ever since i was ... lets just stick with the term younger. since it first aired , there i said it, now try to read it hahahah . But other anime songs i have a liking for are some of the ones from Noir and Madlax, (Yuki Kajiura) ... such songs are Canta Per Me, Chloe, Salva Nos, "Killing", Salva Nos II. I group these songs together only becuase i like them all for the same reason ( i know lists aren't fun but go with me here)... i like them all for their beat and their sounds. With such songs Canta Per Me, Salva Nos and Salva Nos II i also like them for their singing and sound (so i like them a tad better). With Madlax i like People are People, Nowhere, We are One, Madlax (lol), and Margaret. I like these (same thing wiht the list), becuase of the constant noise haha it sounds weird to say, but i said it. I also like all these songs becuase after listetning to them each probably 100+ times, i learn them, even though they're not in my language (english). Lastly there are a few songs i really enjoy from the Saiyuki (realod, and gunlock) series... such songs include I Can Fly, Fukisusabu kaze no naka de, Shiro no Jumon, and ID... I like them all (same list reason) becuase of their calmness, even though many will tell me they're not like that. Also since their not in english, i still get to learn the words despite the language difference, something i kinda find quite cool.

For me, The anime song i will never be tired of is the second opening theme from Bleach, UVERworld - D-Technolife. Man i love this song and UVERworld rocks.

Besides that, all of Naruto soundtracks are unbelievable. they hang so much at the show.

I like instrumental musics from inuyasha too the Inuyasha & Kagome theme is so sad but its a wonderful song.

A Song of Storm and Fire well if you can call this a song because it's a bunch of jumble up words. No in all seriousness this is one of my favorite battle themes in ANY series. It's a captivating and passionate theme. It's very clever. and a very solid composition by Yuki Kajiura.

Chrono Crusade Ending I always get teary eyed or chills when I listen to this song.

I never ever get tired of "Gatchaman No Uta" from Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman because it is quite possibly the greatest anime song ever.

Also "Bari Bari Saikyou No.1!" from Jigoku Sensei Nube is an amazing song that never, ever gets old.
