J-Pop
J-Pop: Japanese pop music. One of the DJs at J-WAVE, 81.3FM in Tokyo, originally coined the term, and it quickly became popular among music fans. If it's from Japan, and it's not classical or folk music, it's J-Pop.
J-Rock: A term used by foreign fans (but not in Japan) to refer to rock-style J-Pop

KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple DVD Season 1 Part 1
Despite an annoying start, this silly variation on The Karate Kid eventually becomes surprisingly entertaining in its sampling of various forms of martial arts and the tactics involved in using them efficiently. It's cheesy, but fun.

Night Head Genesis DVD 4
It takes patience to enjoy Night Head Genesis. That is, when there's enjoyment to be had.

Hayate the Combat Butler GN 11
An easily accessible sense of humor, which rotates between slapstick and parody and the characters behaving in exaggerated ways, is what helps to keep the series entertaining.

Dojin Work Sub.DVD 3
It ain't fall-out-of-your-seat funny, but it's fast and unfailingly amusing right to the end, with just enough insight into the artistic process to keep from fading into complete insubstantiality.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's DVD
... a work of raw ambition, desperately straining to break free of the clichés holding it down. To its credit, Nanoha A's comes close. Very close.

Shin chan Dub.DVD - Season 2 Part 1
Not all of the jokes work, and some of the routines are more purely crude than actually funny, but the comedy hits come plenty often enough that nearly every viewer should find something to laugh at in nearly every episode.

Shattered Angels DVD
Call it Kaishaku's Tsubasa. But unlike Clamp's epic exercise in fan-pandering, the body of work that Shattered Angels has to draw upon is spectacularly uneven—and not coincidentally, so is Shattered Angels.

Honey Hunt GN 1
Honey Hunt is an appealing, diverting romp through the trials and travails of show business and teenage romance…but you would be better off sticking to Skip Beat! and calling it a day.

Silver Diamond GN 1-3
Do not ask yourself what business a parallel universe fantasy about a bishounen whose touch causes plants to grow has been titled Silver Diamond. It just spoils the fun.
Oh My Goddess! (2nd Ed) GN 11
If the arrival of Peorth is supposed to signal a dramatic change in the Goddess franchise, well ... the signal is clearly a weak one.

School Rumble GN 3
Not all of the kinks have been worked out, but the jokes are delivered with devastating skill and the cast of cleverly tweaked stereotypes is as likable as ever.
