The spirits of ancient warriors live again in the bodies of high school students across Kanto, and are coming together to join battle once more. Beautiful 17-year-old Hakufu Sonsaku transfers to Nanyo High School, aiming to conquer the entire province. But first she must defeat the "Big Four" fighters at Nanyo school.

Young Harlock and the Samurai Tochiro are traveling on a wild and lawless planet. Arriving at a rundown town, they are hired to guard a pawnshop. But after killing an unarmed man on their first day, they are fired. Then, they meet a mysterious woman called Sinunora.

The end of the 30th century: after a bloody war, a treaty has been signed between "flesh and blood" humans and a new race of mechanized men. Having lost his family and friends in the war, space commander Zero lives an empty life. But things are about to change. Zero is ordered to hunt down notorious space pirate Captain Harlock - his former comrade-in-arms, and the best friend he ever had.

Enjyutsu, the head of the fighters at Nanyo High School, orders Kannei, one of the "Big Four" fighters, to destroy Hakufu Sonsaku before the warriors of the other schools in the region recognized her as the legendary conqueror. Kokin Shuyu warns Hakufu but she's happy just to enjoy campus life.

Sinunora, Harlock and Tochiro are attacked by a ferocious gang of bandits, but are saved in the nick of time by Indians. They reach a quiet town but are disappointed to find it has neither a saloon nor a gun shop.

As Zero's ship Karyu (Fire Dragon) sets off on its mission, there's tension between the human and mechanized members of the crew. First Officer Marina doesn't help the situation with her rigorous application of the rules. And when a squad leader tries to take control of the mechanized crew, things reach boiling point.

Ryomo chokes Hakufu until she loses consciousness. When she awakens, she remembers nothing of the battle, only the humiliation of defeat. Shuyu tries to cheer her friend up, but a despondent Hakufu disappears.

The trio continue their journey towards Samurai Creek but are caught in a sandstorm. As the storm disappears, a gunslinger approaches.

Karyu receives an SOS from a space station. Heading to its aid, the ship encounters rebel leader General Hunter. Under fire, Karyu's Chief Navigator panics and initiates Karyu's special, but untested, weapon, "St Elmo's Fire." The ship is engulfed in bluish flame, and both it and the crew sustain heavy damage.

Totaku, the ruthless head of Rakuyo High School, has Kokin Shuyu kidnapped to lure Hakufu into a fight. She soon finds herself facing Taishiji, the strongest fighter at Rakuyo's ally Yoshu Academy.

Tochiro heads for Bourbon Town with a woman called Hedelnoya, who claims she can set up a meeting with Maya, the woman Tochiro hopes can help uncover the secret of his kinsmen.

Zero's ship visits the planet El Alamain, once the human battlefront in the war against mechanized man. It's home to a mercenary named Heavy Grenadier. The former rebel is sworn to protect a group of children, including the son of his late employer. But the boy, intimidated by a mechanized officer, reveals their hideout and the mechanized troops attack. Grenadier will need Zero's help to save the children.

Totaku declares the grand tournament of fighters open to all schools in the Kanto region. When Hakufu hears that Taishiji has been stabbed by one of his comrades for disobeying Totaku's orders, she is outraged, and forces her way into Yoshu Academy. Meanwhile, Ryomo heads to Rakuyo High School in search of the missing Saji.

The travellers enter Flint Town, where nothing is forbidden, but Tochiro becomes a victim of this law and is badly beaten by drunken cowboys. He is brought to "Dr Sulski", who turns out to be the man who helped the survivors of Samurai Creek to escape.

Held captive in Zelgadis’s hideout, Lina is surprised when he helps her to escape. But she’s not free for long, as a fish monster appears and drags her into a lake. Can Lina defeat the creature without her magic?

Having been humiliated at the hands of Ryofu, Ryomo wants revenge. Her chance comes when Nanyo High School takes on Yoshu Academy in the grand tournament. As battles get underway across Kanto, excitement grows and news is spread via text message and cell phone. Meanwhile, Totaku is busy plotting

A missing persons column in a newspaper leads Tochiro into a trap designed to capture the survivors of the Samurai Creek massacre - a trap set by Nogson and Masterson, the watchers of "the Organization".

Harlock comes to rescue Tochiro. Le Sylviana challenge a battle against him, but no match. Emeraldas comes to Tochiro, but she refuses to release him when she is told Tochiro was enticed by Le Sylviana and fell in the trap. Ishikura tries to get the information of Harlock from Tochiro, but no avail. He sets a bomb reacting to Tochiro's voice on his body for capture of Harlock. Zero worries the way the things are going on, decides to go down to the town. Meanwhile, Harlock finds out the reason of commotion was Tochiro. At the execution place, Tochiro notices Harlock come up for his rescue...

Rezo appears and accuses Zelgadis of treachery. It seems Zelgadis is the result of one of Rezo’s evil experiments – a synthetic human with skin of rock. As Rezo’s men attack, Zelgadis tells Lina he needs a special incantation she possesses to heal his eyes. But what is it?

Kannei attacks Hakufu again. Kokin tries to protect her and is badly injured. To Kokin's amazement, Hakufu annihilates Kannei. Meanwhile, Kan-U uses some unexpected techniques to defeat Ryomo. It's time for Hakufu to take over.

In a clean and elegant town, Tochiro is arrested for urinating in the street and sentenced to be hanged. With his sword cane taken, there seems no hope of escape. Then, a mysterious beauty called Asaka comes to see him.

Zero receives report that Harlock is attacking a planet for looting. When Zero's ship, Karyu, arrives, "Death Shadow II" is bombarding the planet. The human and mechanized pilots of fighter jets get in the course of missile to save the people on the planet. All of them suffer from heavy damages. Karyu counterattacks Death Shadow II. To Zero's embarrassment, Death Shadow II retreats immediately..

Under the villains’ ceaseless attack, Lina and Zelgadis have no time to rest. They are about to be captured when Gourry appears, and unleashes the Sword of Light. With help from Zelgadis’s men Zolf and Rodimas, our heroes escape Rezo’s clutches.

Nanyo's next opponent is Kyoshou Academy, which boasts the warrior Katousen among its ranks. Hakufu relishes the challenge but Katousen turns out to be more than she bargained for. Meanwhile, Ryofu is denounced by Totaku's subordinates for sheltering Saji. Is he destined to repeat history and betray Totaku?

The travellers board a train for Doji City, where they seek out Wild Utamaro, the warrior who betrayed Tochiro's kinsmen at Samurai Creek. Tochiro confronts Utamaro, demanding to know why he betrayed his people. Utamaro says, "The Darkmister is the ruler of the world" and the two swordsmen duel in the rain.

Zero helps Marina out of the exploded computer room. Carrying her to the nurse room, he notices Marina has the metal bones. Doc. Machinar already guessed Marina is not a flesh & blood human. She is hospitalized under watch, but escapes for searching Helmatear. Chased by the soldiers, Marina finds Helmatear bu using reacting sensor. Helmatear tells her that Zero is an experiment for "a human being whose conducts can not be calculated completely". Helmatear escapes out of the ship. Marina chases her on a fighter jet. Zero follows Marina, regretting that he did not understand Marina's sentiment

While resting in a nearby village, Gourry and Zelgadis fight over the Stone of Wisdom. They’re interrupted by a message from Rezo threatening to turn the villagers to stone if they do not give him the artefact. Lina has no intention of handing it over but Rezo hypnotises Zelgadis into stealing it, and is soon preparing to resurrect Shabranigdo.

Hakufu's mother G?ei takes her daughter and Kokin Shuyu to a hot spa in the mountains to recuperate. There, a worried G?ei seeks the advice of Master Chogen - will the "dragon" within Hakufu one day destroy her? Meanwhile, Hakufu invites Ryomo to join them at the spa, where the hot tub seems to melt Ryomo's cold exterior.

Arriving in the next town, the trio spot the body of a woman - and are shot at as they try to approach her. An unconscious Tochiro is captured and taken away to be executed. Can Harlock save his friend?

Zero discovers a planet littered with the discarded flesh of humans who have become mechanized. He demands answers from the chairman of Earth Union, who reveals a terrible plot hatched by Helmetear and Zeth Water, the governor general of the outer solar system. Back on the planet, the beautiful Maetel tells Zero about Technologia, a new world where humans and mechanized people can live in harmony.

Rezo succeeds in resurrecting the Dark Lord Shabranigdo, who takes possession of Rezo’s body. Lina and her companions soon realise they cannot match Shabranigdo’s power and run for their lives. But when innocent villagers come under attack, Lina decides to fight.

One hot summer day, Totaku visits Hakufu as she relaxes by the pool. As he departs he touches her shoulder, leaving behind a mysterious mark. Chingu, Ryofu's girlfriend, is caught trying to steal Totaku's Imperial Seal, and humiliated by a group of boys. Ryofu is furious and swears revenge. Meanwhile, G?ei is surprised by a visit from a young man named Ukitsu.

The companions head for Strobe Town in search of Tochiro's sister Shizuku, but the town's sheriff refuses an outraged Tochiro entry on the grounds of his diminutive stature. As Tochiro waits outside the town for Harlock and Sinunora, he encounters two youngsters, a brother and sister.

To reach Technologia, Karyu must pass through the unstable gravity field of Galaxy Iron Bridge, which has disturbing effects on the mechanized crew, leaving only the flesh and blood humans to navigate the meteors and perilous electrical storms.

Lina and her companions face Shabranigdo but none of their magic seems to effect him. Gourry is knocked unconscious and Zelgadis is badly hurt. All seems lost until Lina discovers that Gourry’s Sword of Light increases the power of her sorcery. She unleashes her most powerful incantation, Giga Slay.

About to fight Ukitsu, Hakufu suddenly loses consciousness. Ukitsu understands why when he finds the spot on her shoulder, and leaves without attacking the defenceless girl. Later, Hakufu learns the history and power of Totaku's mark, which is creeping inside her, and about to reach her heart.

In Jamacity, the trio go in search of the hideout of Sitarunen, one of the officers of the Organization" but find themselves under the constant gaze of its agents. Meanwhile, in a secret factory in the city,Tochiro's sister and the rest of the inhabitants of Samurai Creek are forced to work on the development of a new weapon."

Karyu reaches Technologia. Many friendly ships, including Harlock's Death Shadow, are waiting to defend the planet from Zeth Water's space fortress Helcastle. The gigantic craft seems almost impervious to attack. While Zero deliberates as to whether he should risk raising Karyu's shields to unleash St Elmo's Fire, Zeth Water transmits a shattering revelation about Marina.

Saji captures Hakufu's cousin Kokin. Gakushu makes a shocking revelation - his real name is Ouin. He is the warrior who controlled Ryofu and compelled her to kill Totaku 1800 years ago. Meanwhile, Totaku forces Hakufu to fight Ryofu in order to save Ryomo's life.

Sinunora confesses to Harlock and Tochiro that she is a deserter from the Organization. She is ready to leave them but Harlock and Tochiro tell her she is now their comrade. As the three friends head for Sitarunen's hideout Tochiro spots one of his kinswoman entering a strip joint.

Urged on by Helmetear, Zeth Water is united with the core of Helcastle, strengthening the space fortress, which fires a powerful beam at Karyu. It inflicts heavy damage on Zero's ship but also causes something strange to happen to Marina's body …

With Hakufu now under his control, Totaku sends her to kill Ouin. Kokin tries to stop her but Hakufu is too powerful. There's only one solution - to awaken the dragon within her! 1800 years after the original battle, Hakufu faces the ultimate showdown with Ukitsu.

At Sitarunen's hideout, the heroes try to board the train carrying the new weapons and Tochiro's people but are held back by enemy fire. Tochiro goes in pursuit. He must save his sister and his people at all costs!

When a sustained attack by the entire rebel fleet fails to do any serious damage to Helcastle, Harlock persuades Zero to use St Elmo's Fire. As the weapon is prepared, Karyu's shields are down, leaving it defenceless. The other ships sacrifice themselves to protect Karyu from Helcastle. With only Death Shadow and Emeraldas left, can Karyu destroy Helcastle in time?

Harlock and Toshiro head for the planet Sarumatake, where they have a secret research laboratory. Meanwhile, Zero is captured by the notorious space pirate Hunter, but escapes with help from Emeraldas. On Sarumatake, eternal rivals Zero and Harlock meet to fight a decisive battle.

When Hunter's battleships launch an all-out attack on Sarumatake, Zero, Harlock and Emeraldas must join forces to defend the planet. As the situation becomes desperate, Tochiro returns in Death Shadow and destroy Hunter's ships. But the comrades aren't safe for long. The battle has disturbed the fragile structure of the planet, which begins to collapse. Can they reset the gravity control system before the planet is destroyed?
