Microsoft kicked off a new Crispin Porter + Boguksy-produced Ad campaign today with an advertisement aimed at people struggling in a tough economy. The ad doesn't really focus on Microsoft's software. In fact, nowhere during the commercial does Vista even make an appearance. I'll sum up the message for you:

Apple is obviously a little thin in the App Store selection personnel these days. Perhaps they didn't plan for the overwhelming amount of app "applications" that have piled up over the past months. How big is this little App Store? Many think it will be a $1 billion/year business, if it isn't already. Apple might want to spend a little more money to get some more quality people working in the process...
Update (6:06am March 11, 2009): Apple has relented and will let the app into the app store. A little press never hurts!

Cydia and Installer.app have long been on the iPhone, offering a selection of jailbroken Apps for iPhone users who aren't content to stay within Apple's tough boundaries of what it can do. Recent news is that Cydia, and others plan on offering a Paid app service just like the app store. These will obviously violate Apple's terms of service.
But Apple should embrace their customers desires for these "rogue" apps in order to kill the alternative app stores rather than trying to fend them off with legal threats. Here's how:
