The Conduit's publisher soon to be announced
High Voltage Software said at PAX that they have a publishing deal for The Conduit, which they "may announce in the next two weeks." We completely don't get the use of a publisher's identity as a tease -- although we're talking about it right now on a fairly popular gaming site, so maybe we do.
Chris Kohler spent some time with the demo of the game, declaring the control customizations "excellent," though the default control scheme was more than sufficient for him. Aside from a general lack of enthusiasm about the environments, which look "flat, boring, and basic at this point," Kohler enjoyed the demo, which was mostly focused on shooting some aliens. He left the demo behind after dying to a boss creature -- the game is "definitely a challenge."

Rumor: Old E3 to return?
60,000 gamers crammed together in one sweaty convention center. Women in skimpy outfits, paraded like pieces of meat. A gigantic, deafening, cacophonous din.
Yep, the old-style E3 really was glorious. But in all seriousness, it seems as though most of the internet would kill for a return to the old format. Whether it's because of the muted reception to this year's horribly empty E3 Media and Business Summit, or simply a hangover from Nintendo's ill-received press conference, the majority of fans want E3 to return to being the spectacle it once was. Significant industry figures seem to agree.
And now, it might just happen. Kotaku claims that the idea of returning to the E3 of yesteryear and opening the doors to the public has been officially proposed, and is currently being discussed by the ESA board, the folks who organize the event. Maybe the "old E3" won't just be a story we tell our grandchildren, decades from now.
Book sales are strong with The Force Unleashed
People are kind of stoked for this The Force Unleashed thing, enough so that the book for the game has managed to score a spot on the NY Times bestseller list. Written by Sean Williams, the piece of fiction managed to top the hardcover list over the weekend, showing that this whole Star Wars thing is pretty popular. Could this be indicative of strong sales for the game that's planned to release on September 18th in North America? We'd tell you, but the Dark Side the future has clouded.

Fragile trailer is more than solid
Fragile continues to look like the most atmospheric Wii title since Samus did her thing. This short trailer doesn't contain much in the gameplay department, but what is there has a really eerie ambience to it. The haunting tune that plays as the beam from Seto's flashlight crawls across these desolate environments is perfect.
The official Fragile blog still has this listed for a 2008 release in Japan, and producer Kentaro Kawashima has promised us there will soon be news of a release date. Then it's time to start crossing everything for a western localization!

Harping on Wii Music
The latest Wii Music "Today's Instrument" video features a musical instrument most of us are quite unlikely to have at home, due to bigness, cost, and complicated upkeep: the harp. Of course, you won't have to worry about taking care of your Wii Music harp, because it doesn't exist! You also won't have to worry about retuning it because the temperature has changed since you played it. Or knowing how to play the harp.
Playing the harp as it appears in Wii Music is easy: all you do is perform Ocelot's signature hand gesture from Metal Gear Solid 3! You can make beautiful, otherworldly-sounding music and taunt Big Boss simultaneously!
Deceptively new scans of Animal Crossing
The problem with showing new images of Animal Crossing: City Folk is that, unless the screens happen to feature the new city environment, what you see ends up looking pretty much exactly like the original Crossing. Only subtle clues point to the newness, such as the lack of hats, the different clock, and, oh yeah, two player characters onscreen together. It's still very important, and it's still really exciting, it just -- happens to look a lot like Animal Crossing!
We wouldn't want it any other way. We're ready to start it all again -- picking fruit, paying off Tom Nook, meeting new neighbors, filling our catalog, pulling weeds, the whole thing. This time, we'll be able to enjoy the game over some friendly conversation!

Older artists re-record classics for World Tour, four new tracks confirmed
On top of that, four new tracks were also confirmed for the game, albeit from more modern artists. These tracks are none other than:
- The Living End -- "Prisoner of Society"
- Los Lobos -- "La Bamba"
- Bullet for My Valentine -- "Scream Aim Fire"
- Lacuna Coil -- "Our Truth"

Rumor: Another Milestone shmup port on the way
Ultimate Shooting Collection will release in the U.S. later this month, but it might not be the last shmup port we see from Milestone. Sega's Illvelo / Illmatic Envelope is based on the NAOMI arcade system board (the Dreamcast was rife with NAOMI ports), and appeared earlier this year in Japanese arcades. Now, according to a Play-Asia listing, the Wii will be getting its own port on November 13th in Japan.
As you can see above, it looks pretty wacky, with cel-shaded levels populated by everything from giant cutlery to confectionery, a tongue-in-cheek approach that reminds us of Star Parodier. Presuming it does exist, will Illvelo Wii get localized? UFO Interactive helpfully picked up Ultimate Shooting Collection for the States, but that contained a wallet-pleasing three shmups -- as Illvelo will only feature one, a North American release looks less likely.

Rygar remake coming out for real?
Tecmo is either desperate to make some money or desperate to prove that they can still finish a game, because they've dragged Rygar: The Battle of Argus back from whatever development limbo they had been keeping it in. Tecmo announced that the expanded remake of the PS2 Rygar: The Legendary Adventure will ship to North American retailers in December.
We were certain this game had been quietly cancelled. Why else would over a year pass before the release of what is essentially a port? Maybe it's turned into less of a port in the intervening period. Check Kotaku for a bunch of new screens!

Space Invaders Get Even with Dinobots
The cybernetic sauropod seen at the end of this stirring Space Invaders Get Even! trailer may not be the genuine Grimlock, but it may as well be. Or is it more of a Mechagodzilla riff? In either case, it's just one of the overblown, yet futile, weapons the puny hu-mans wheel out in an effort to stop the inevitable Space Invasion.
We love pretty much everything about the concept of this game, from the division into bite-sized chunks to the way it changes the usual neatly-stacked Invader lines to swarming masses, adding even more to the inversion of the normal Space Invaders experience.
Guitar Hero: World Tour won't include 'No Fail' option
One of the new features in Rock Band 2 will be a "No Fail" mode, in which gamers can enjoy the song they're playing without fear of failing out because, well ... they're just not that talented a wannabe rocker. And it turns out this casual-focused feature will be absent from Guitar Hero: World Tour.
But, the real question is: does the game need it? Certainly, other rhythm-based games sold extremely well without it, including past Guitar Hero games and the original Rock Band. Does this lack of a "No Fail" option tick off any of you? Are you good enough that it doesn't even matter? Or are you going to be picking up Rock Band 2 and don't really care for this Guitar Hero: World Tour business?

Wii Warm Up: It's up for debate
In all seriousness, we love doing our Point/Counterpoint feature. If you're unfamiliar, it's where we debate a topic that we feel is on the minds of the community. Of course, we can't know all things on your mind, so we're wondering if you'd like to toss out some things for us to cover in the feature? What topics do you think we should debate in future installments? Whatever it is, out with it already!
ScummVM now has limited GameCube and Wii support
- The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Two: Hand of Fate
- The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge
- Lost in Time
- The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble
- Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back

Warner Bros boss says LEGO Batman is 'the best TT game ever'
Warner Bros. boss guy Martin Tremblay loves Traveller's Tales. And we would think so, with his company having shelled out quite a bit of money for the UK-based development studio. "We're very, very happy with LEGO Batman," said Tremblay. "It's going to be the best TT game ever and will be our first big step in games for sure."
We wouldn't go so far as to say that ourselves, even after we had quite a bit of time to check it out back at E3. But, we will say that it certainly looks like a great game, as it contains a ton of options and replay value, thanks to its large roster of controllable characters and their unique abilities and skills.
