Toby was previously Chief Foreign Correspondent for The Sunday Telegraph. He first joined The Daily Telegraph in 1994 and has been its Ireland Correspondent, Washington Bureau Chief and Middle East Correspondent. Greetings from London, which isn't Des Moines, Iowa or Manchester, New Hampshire quite yet but does seem to have become an obligatory 2008 campaign stop. Michelle Obama - Mrs Hopeful Audacity - and Bill surrogate-in-chief Clinton are due to hold fundraising events here soon. But first up was Rudy Giuliani.

Giuliani is keen to prove he is a big player on the world stage

The Giuliani campaign is giddy with excitement. As I report in today's paper, he managed to score meetings with current PM Gordon Brown and his immediate predecessor Tony Blair before being honoured at a dinner with Margaret Thatcher. In between, he hobnobbed with Sir Winston Churchill's grand daughter at a fundraising lunch. Oh, and he also took a call from Ehud Olmert, Israel's PM. Not a bad day's work.
