Angelina Jolie has entered talks for Luc Besson's next project.

The star is in "serious talks" for the untitled, large-scale dramatic thriller, reports Deadline.

If she is to join the Taxi and Transporter director's upcoming project, Jolie will have to film it before she takes on her role in Ridley Scott's Gertrude Bell biopic.

Besson is currently working on his Aung San Suu Kyi biopic The Lady, which has seen star Michelle Yeoh deported from Burma.

While there is little information about his new film, Besson's project is said to sound similar to his earlier films The Professional, La Femme Nikita and The Fifth Element.

Jolie's directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey is released on December 23 in the US. A UK release date has not yet been confirmed.
