Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Being a Pure Prairie League fan from the beginning this album was the period at the end of the sentence. The band being driven by Vince Gill at this point finished with a good record though not up to par with the previous albums. It's out of print now and we pay way too much for it but I need to complete my collection. Though not stellar it has some good tunes.
Sadly, this version of Pure Prairie League was a shadow of the brilliant, underrated band that made great albums such as "Bustin' Out" and the underrated "Two Lane Highway." Even with Vince Gill on board as the band's lead singer, his pleasant vocals couldn't save an album full of fairly mediocre songs. The fire was gone.
Many longtime PPL fans also ways cited the departure of Craig Fuller (who was the lead vocalist on the band's first two albums) as the start of the band's downward spiral, but I think they actually made one of their very best albums soon afterwards with "Two Lane Highway" (thanks to the contributions of Larry Goshorn) and even the fine "If the Shoe Fits". But his album had none of the passion and fervor of those albums. Basically, even with good musicians and a talented singer, it's hard to overcome lackluster material and that was the curse of this album.
A 1980's album featureing Vince Gill, a popular county rock artist. This is one of Pure Prairie League's better albums. It follows on from their previous 1980's album "Firin Up". Their 1980 albums are almost as good as their early 1970's one's. Similar to Eagles, Firefall (including Rick Roberts from Flying Burrito Brothers's second last album of the Chris Hillman era) and Poco. A must.
