BHUBANESWAR: Bouquets, cards and SMSes. Amitabh Bachchan may have been getting loads of these from friends, relatives and fans, wishing him a speedy recovery while he recuperates in hospital.
But Sudarshan Pattnaik has said "get well soon" to Big B in a unique way by sculpting a five feet high image of the Bollywood icon on the sandy beaches of Konark, close to world famous Sun Temple.
It took Pattnaik, along with his students at Golden Sand Art Institute , Puri, three hours and around five truckloads of sand to create the image on the final day of the five-day Konark festival.
"It is a small tribute to a great artiste. Bachchan has not only been my idol since childhood, but is Indias pride. I thought of sculpting his image to express our reverence and concern for him," the international sand artist told TOI.
"I chose Konark because surya (Sun God) is considered healer of all diseases. Also, in Hindu mythology, Konark is the place where Samba, son of Lord Krishna, worshipped the Sun God and got cured.
Moreover, the Konark Festival was underway and thousands of people could wish Bachchan a speedy recovery there," Pattnaik said.
